Abstract

The paper aims at evaluating the extent to which a policy scheme is able to induce additional innovation cooperation in a regional innovation system. The policy-role in helping firms remedy potential failures in innovation cooperation with research organisations, and in extending its scope geographically is addressed. A sample of firms located in the Italian region of Emilia-Romagna is investigated by making use of an original, survey-based dataset. Propensity score matching is applied in order to identify additional cooperative behaviours. Their geographical range is then investigated with a generalised propensity score technique.
