Abstract

The necropolis of Qubbet el-Hawa, perhaps best known as the site of tombs hewn by the nobility of Aswan during the Old and Middle Kingdoms, continued in use long after the burial of its famed inmates Harkhuf, Pepy-nakht, Sabni, and Sirenput. Evidence of its development in later times is somewhat more scattered than we might hope, but is far from lost, although often overshadowed by the monuments of earlier periods.
