Abstract

The paper empirically analyzes the spatial distributions of local government innovations in China by using more than 130 winners and finalists of the Innovations and Excellence in Chinese Local Governance (IECLG) Awards Program. The results reveal an unequal spatial distribution of Chinese local government innovation behavior. This study attempts to explain the local government innovation capacity disparities between the eastern, middle, and western regions in China and to describe the factors that significantly influence the Chinese local government innovation behavior.
