Abstract

Image security has found a great need in many applications where the information (in the form of image) is to be protected from unauthorized access. Encrypting the image makes this possible. Several schemes for image encryption have been proposed. These schemes produce randomness in the image so that the content is not visible. Encryption and decryption consume a considerable amount of time. So there is a need for an efficient algorithm. In this paper, a region based selective image encryption technique is proposed which provides the facilities of selective encryption and selective reconstruction of images. Simulation results are presented and a comparative analysis of the proposeds technique with the conventional methods is discussed. Also, the efficiency considerations and advantages of the new technique over the conventional methods are highlighted.
