Abstract

We explore how the Regge limit of the Veneziano formula works experimentally. Absorptive cuts are essential. The resulting fit to πN, KN and K N has fewer parameters than any previous Regge fit. Though not perfect, we argue that discrepancies come from the lowest partial waves where absorptive models are not quantitatively reliable. This leads to a scheme for Reggeized phase shift analysis.
