Abstract

✓ This report summarizes for neurosurgeons the basic science presentations at this symposium. Topics discussed include the roles of axoplasmic flow, non-neuronal support, hormones, monoamine neurons, and immunological factors in CNS regeneration. The subjects of neurotropism, remyelination, and muscle spindle afferents are evoked in discussion of the pathophysiology of paraplegia. Directions for future research in this field are suggested.
