Abstract

It is with deep interest that we read Bosmann et al's description of Cullen's and Grey Turner's signs.1 As the art of medicine is being lost and its science also threatened, and clinicians' reasoning replaced by following practice guidelines,2 it is heartening to see that the tradition of clinical examination survives. This reminds us that close observation of patients (history and physical examination) can lead one to correct diagnosis hours, days, and even weeks before it can be achieved by those who rely solely on modern technology.
