Abstract

We thoroughly discussed the article “Recognition of primary hyperparathyroidism: Delayed time course from hypercalcemia to surgery” by Naples et al.1 At the outset, we want to extol the authors for investigating the causes of delay in surgery in a diagnosed case of sporadic primary hyperparathyroidism (PHPT). In the absence of large epidemiologic studies from various part of the world, it may be true that even more than 43% of hypercalcemic patients are likely to have PHPT as described by Press et al.
