Abstract

The aim of this paper is firstly of examining the ice banks with the energy method of analysis; to this purpose some topics of energy are dealt with, in particular the energy variation of a system in a fluctuating temperature environment. On these grounds the conditions for the technical and economical convenience of ice banks are examined. Various parameters that affect these plants are considered: (a) the variation of the system energy as a consequence of the variation of environment temperature; (b) the variability of the required refrigerating power; (c) the differential costs of the electrical energy; (d) the weight of the service reliability; (e) the heat transmission during the ice production.
