Abstract
Reformation theology has a significant place in the contemporary revival of Chinese Christianity. The depth and inclusivity of Reformed doctrine is proving attractive to large numbers of preachers and congregations. Charismatic groups, ‘shouters’ and fundamentalists are all found turning to the Reformation for theological light and truth. This article analyses what the author sees as the five greatest challenges facing Reformation Theology in China today. The article examines the prevalence of autocracy and idolatry in Chinese culture, the poor training of many clergy, the proliferation of congregations and the need for greater spiritual maturity. Faced by this, the article presses for more prayer, wise counsel and practical help from Christian bodies inside and outside China.
