Abstract

Reflexivity, an integrative process of critical examination of the knowledge in texts and personal experience, is a teaching practice that assists students in becoming sensitive to family diversity. This discussion, based in a feminist perspective, considers ways an instructor can use reflexivity to uncover multiple truths about family experience. Written and interactive strategies for guiding student reflexivity are provided, including journal writing, discussing study questions, in-class writing, and making use of the situation at hand.
