Abstract

Devices and methods are presented in which optical fibre probes are used for temperature and thermoradiative property measurements. The measurements can be made in situ, under severe conditions (high temperature, difficult accessibility, controlled atmosphere, etc). A monochromatic reflectometer for measurement of the bidirectional reflectivity for several directions and for the evaluation of the hemispherical reflectivity is presented. A bicolour pyroreflectometer, which determines the emissivity of opaque and diffuse materials and consequently the true surface temperature, is also presented. Specific examples show the capability of these devices to perform accurate measuremeys on materials with significant modification of their surface (emissivity evolution, surface oxidation, etc).
