Abstract
The CEC Research Award recognizes researchers for the significant contributions they have made to special education. We believe that the members of this distinguished group have much to share with our readers. We have invited each of them to contribute an article, addressing past, present, and future research needs and practices in special education. Tanis Bryan was awarded the Research Award in 1996, recognizing her 25 years of research in special education. Her article focuses on research and change in special education, the continued need for research on learning disabilities, and ways to ensure that research is translated into practice.
