Abstract
This is to familiarize pastoral care providers with the rather unique specialty within medical practice of burn wound care. Included is a short overview of clinical aspects of burn injuries, statistics, current classification of burn wounds themselves and other data on those admitted to a specialized burn unit. Burn injuries constitute a multi-dimensional trauma requiring concerted involvement of several disciplines. Pastoral Care is one component of this team. Described are various pastoral interactions during a one year CPE residency at Miami Valley Hospital in Dayton, Ohio. Included are some theological reflections which came out of that experience.
