Abstract

A concise method of searching for the reflection point in a propagation space using a rectangular array sound source with a small number of elements is proposed. A rectangular transducer has four vertices and four sides. Therefore, the shape of the spatial impulse response complicatedly changes depending on the position of the observation point. In the presented method, the waveform of the reflected wave, which behaves complicatedly with the position of the reflection point as well as the impulse response, is utilized to search for the reflection point. The spatial impulse response and reflected waves around the reflection point are calculated, and correlations with the original reflected wave are obtained. As a sound source, a rectangular transducer array with a small number of elements is introduced as a sound source, and the improvement of the search result obtained by the method using a single rectangular sound source is attempted. Using numerical calculations, the validity of this method is verified.
