Abstract

In this reflection, this paper seeks to highlight the interconnectedness of Bertalanfyy's (1950) General System Theory to Open Systems Theory (Fu & Kirk, 199). In doing this, I define and explain the General System Theory conceptualized by Ludwig von Bertalanfyy in the 1950s and its interconnectedness to Fu and Kirk's (1999) model of open systems. In addition, I illustrate and explain Bertalanfyy's General System Theory (Hatch, 2006) in connection to Fu and Kirk (1999) of Open Systems theory. Relative to interconnectedness between these theories, I explicate the integration and practical application of these systems to the multicultural education model in the pedagogy of culturally and linguistically diverse children in public schools in the United States.
