Abstract

There is a lot of debate these days about the planet's sustainability. The recurring occurrence of severe meteorological and other events endangers the survival of the human species in certain places of the world, making it a topic of national and worldwide concern. When we talk about sports maintenance, we are talking about safety, and when we talk about sports management, we must consider not only the component of sports safety itself, but also the component of sports venue and facility maintenance, insofar as they are spaces that receive a diverse "mass" audience, which in many cases reaches thousands of spectators during a sporting event. The purpose of this study is to target third-year students on the sports management degree course at the Universidade Autonoma de Lisboa in the 2023/2024 academic year, as they are directly related to the subject under study: "Reflection on the Maintenance and Safety of Sports Facilities," based on a set of variables relating to: The sports manager; the maintenance of sports facilities and spaces; the safety of sports facilities and spaces; accessibility and the planning of sports facilities. According to the socio-demographic study, the students polled had a general opinion based on their age, gender, household, residence, and nationality. We employed a quantitative, descriptive methodology. When confronted with the study factor "Accessibility and the Planning of Sports Facilities and Spaces," the results revealed a unanimous opinion among the universe of students under study regarding "Reflection on the Maintenance and Safety of Sports Facilities," which proved to have a significant influence on the students' perception of sports space and facilities. Keywords: Students; Manager; Sports Management; Sports Facilities Maintenance; Sports Facilities Security.
