Abstract

The occurrence of light scattering during light transmission is described for some orientations of an incident laser beam in polydomain crystals of the uniaxial ferroelectric tin thiohypodiphosphate. This scattering is probably caused by the presence of a reflecting layer near the 180° domain walls. A reflecting layer may be formed as a result of the appearance of charged nonparallel domain walls.
