Abstract

The present concept is related to reflection and refraction phenomena of a three-dimensional plane quasi-P wave incident at the interface between distinct fiber-reinforced medium under the influence of initial stress. The expressions of all the phase velocities of reflected and transmitted quasi-P (qP), and quasi shear waves (qS1 and qS2) are derived analytically. The amplitude ratios of reflected and transmitted quasi waves are also obtained in compact form. The expressions are computed numerically to show the effect of initial stress and the reinforcement parameter on the reflection and refraction coefficients. Also, the variations of reflection and transmission coefficients and the energy coefficients with the incidence angle have been shown by plotting two-dimensional graphs.
