Abstract

The theory of microwave reflection and transmission from wire grids has been used to explain the optical properties of wire meshes in the far infrared. The theory accounts satisfactorily for the position of the principal transmission maximum and the value of transmission coefficient in the region λ> g(1 + sinα) for rectangular meshes of very small strip thickness.
