Abstract

1. In comparison with standard steel, refined steel has a higher plasticity, impact toughness, and resistance to brittle fracture in static tension at low temperatures, tested with notched samples. 2. The lower limit of the critical embrittlement range for the refined steel is 40–80°C below that of the standard steel, while the upper limit remains unchanged.
