Abstract

(Abstracted from Am J Obstet Gynecol 2021;225:294.e1–294.e14) In the United States, the progression of labor has been substantially slower than reported previously, according to a retrospective observational study by the Consortium on Safe Labor. Yet, the optimal threshold for arrest of dilation that balances the likelihood of vaginal delivery with the risk of adverse maternal and neonatal outcomes is unknown.
