Abstract
A scientific basis for a unified standard of the reference value of Chinese healthy aged population hematocrit is described and justified. This is based on the relationship between the collected reference values of healthy aged population Wintrobe hematocrit and five defined geographical and environmental factors. As the altitude at which the population is living gradually increases, the reference value of their hematocrit also increases in a direct association which is statistically significant. Stepwise regression analysis allowed two multivariate regression equations to be established: Ŷ1=39.5 +0.00348X1+0.00112X2+0.0338X3−0.00258X4±2.3,Ŷ2=37.4+0.00301X1+0.000792X2−0.00308X4+0.000653X5±2.2. These can be used to directly associate reference values to geographical and environmental index values. Values can be defined by six districts: Qingzang, Southwest, Northwest, Southeast, North, and Northeast district.
