Abstract
Burnley Health Care NHS Trust has admitted that the process surrounding the redundancy of Mr Ian Mahady was flawed and that an urgent review of the management structure is needed. This week the report of the independent inquiry panel, which the trust set up to investigate the circumstances of the redundancy, was published in full. This recommends that Mr Mahady should be reinstated as an NHS consultant and says that the management processes were inadequate, inappropriate, and often confused.
