Abstract

A number of thiols have been tested for their ability to protect rats against lethal doses of Merophan, an aromatic nitrogen mustard; and other biological alkylating agents. Cysteine, thiourea, AET and a thiazolidine have been shown to reduce the toxicity of the more chemically reactive alkylating agents but to have no effect against the less reactive ones.
