Abstract

A superconducting trim coil has been developed to correct the sextupole field of the 40 mm aperture and 1 m long SSC model dipole magnet. The trim coil consists of six subcoils, each having 14 turns of 0.5 mm diameter NbTi superconductor, and is wound directly on the cold bore tube of diameter 34 mm. The field measurement shows that the trim coil has an adequate performance and that a reduction of the sextupole field can be achieved.
