1. Various types of nitro compounds may be reduced to the corresponding amines by carbon monoxide and water in the presence of palladium acetate and a tertiary aromatic phosphine. 2. A catalytically active complex, [HPd2(PPh3)4(CO)(HSO4)]4 was isolated.
