Abstract

The demand for highly efficient motors has risen because of the increase in the number of hybrid electrical vehicles and electrical vehicles. Eddy current loss in the motors, which is generated by leakage of magnetic flux interlinked with the winding, is one factor that leads to the decrease in efficiency. Therefore, in this paper, by attaching magnetic composite materials to the winding of the interior permanent magnet (IPM) motor, we attempted to reduce the eddy current loss due to the leakage of magnetic flux of the rotor while maintaining the torque. © 2020 Institute of Electrical Engineers of Japan.
