Abstract

The two-dimensional, small-disturbance transonic integro-differential equation is solved using a decay function that is applicable over the entire domain rather than on the airfoil surface only. Analytical evaluation of the transverse integral leads to simple expressions and reduces the domain integral to an integral along a boundary located on the streamwise axis. The method is tested for non-lifting biconvex and NACA0012 airfoils in high subsonic flows. Results compare favourably with finite difference solutions.
