Abstract

The shape, size and the number of balloons play an important role in yarn tension on the ring frame and depressing the tension fluctuation is a critical factor in reducing yarn hairiness in ring spinning. Stable yarn tension may be beneficial for the properties of yarns. This paper designs and equips a balloon controller follow-up device control system on the ring spinning frame, then spins and examines the idea of ring spinning with a movable balloon controller and the effect of this movable balloon controller on yarn properties, particularly yarn hairiness. Effect of installed movable balloon controller, fixed balloon controller and uninstalled balloon controller on yarn hairiness and tensile properties were tested and contrasted in ring spinning. The hairiness measurement result shows that ring spinning that installed movable balloon controller produces yarns of lower hairiness than that installed with fixed balloon controller and uninstalled balloon controller in both 2mm and 3mm hairiness length groups. The yarn tensile properties were not as sensitive to the change in installing movable balloon controller.
