Abstract

Aims: With liberalization of donor eligibility criteria, donor hearts are harvested from remote locations, increasing ischemic times. Although some studies have evaluated the effects of prolonged donor ischemic times on survival and graft function, few have addressed concerns regarding morbidity and economic implications. The aim of this study was to examine the effect of total ischemic time (TIT) on length of stay on the intensive care unit (LOS on ICU) and its economic consequences.
