Abstract

Reducing Obstetric Morbidity in In Vitro Fertilization Pregnancies

Highlights

  • The higher twin pregnancy rates with IVF use described in this study is likely due to transfer of multiple embryos, this study was not able to report the number of embryos transferred

  • In the US, twin births are approximately 5 times more expensive than singleton births owing to increased use of cesarean delivery and longer hospital stays for both the mother and the infants.[5]

  • It is an important public health message that many adverse outcomes and increased health care costs can be avoided with use of elective single embryo transfer (eSET)
