Abstract
This article focuses on the policy equity and quality issues associated with reducing maternal mortality in India. It discusses maternal care in India - obstetric care postnatal care three delays in seeking maternal care and service delivery. It also touches on the health expenditure by the government and describes a case study of maternal care in Tamil Nadu state.
