Abstract

In this note, the equations of thin circular cylinders are derived within the framework of classical shell theory in accordance with Kirchhoff’s assumptions. Since the assumption of thinness plays the predominant role in the entire theory and there is no precise definition of thinness, it has been possible to express the equations in convenient forms and apply a slightly varying definition of thinness.
