Abstract

Fetuses with hypoplastic left heart syndrome (HLHS) have cerebral blood flow patterns suggestive of brain sparing. They may become unstable following birth secondary to pulmonary over-circulation, pathophysiology which may also impair cerebral blood flow. The impact of the perinatal circulatory changes on peripheral, including cerebral, blood flow has not to date been well examined in HLHS.
