Abstract
The reduced-stiffness method is used to establish the lower bounds of buckling loads for stringer- or ring-stiffened cylindrical shells. The numerical results obtained by using this method are compared with the experimental data. We also consider the problem of applicability of the reduced-stiffness method in design practice as well as the prospects for its development and generalization.
