Abstract

We report a new data-reproducing scheme for a high density of over 40 Gbytes with a commercial Blu-ray recordable disc. Bit error rates (bERs) of 3×10-5 and 3.3×10-3 with 45 and 50 Gbytes, respectively, were experimentally obtained using this new data-reproducing scheme, which indicates the possibility of achieving 50 Gbytes data storage with a commercial single-layer Blu-ray disc.
