Abstract

This paper proposes a Half-Bridge series resonant (HBSRC) converter based Light emitting diode (LED) driver. Ripple in the LED lamp current is decreased by operating two half-bridge converters with phase shift and outputs are connected in parallel. Frequency control is used for regulating lamp current. Life time of driver is increased by avoiding electrolytic capacitor with reduction in ripple current. The other advantages of this driver include soft switching of all the MOSFET”s in the driver is achieved, which increases efficiency of the driver. Reduced component count. Operation of two half-half bridges from the single DC source. A 20 W LED driver is simulated using ORCAD PSPICE, driver operation and analysis is presented in detail.
