Abstract

For decades, arteriovenous access grafts for hemodialysis have been saddled with poor long-term utility and few clinical predictors of success. Traditionally, sidedness of access creation has been based on extremity dominance, ignoring any possible contribution of laterality to patency. The novel hypothesis that laterality might play a role in the patency of arteriovenous grafts was tested in this thoughtful preclinical study.
