Abstract

In recording or transmitting a three-dimensional image as a hologram, reduction of the information content is usually desirable. This paper proposes a new method of the hologram information reduction, which features the use of a strip-shaped hologram and projection of its image upon a horizontally direction-selective stereoscreen such as a lenticular sheet backed by white diffusing material. The limit of the information reduction and the optimum hologram size are discussed. Experimental results are also shown and compared with theory.
