Abstract

In this paper, an improved message passing detection algorithm based on probability approximation is proposed for large-scale MIMO systems. Large-scale MIMO has been identified as a key technology for the upcoming fifth generation (5G) wireless communication systems. Message passing detection (MPD) algorithm which exploits channel hardening theory can achieve very good performance in Large-scale MIMO system. However, the complexity of the MPD algorithm grows with the number of users and the order of modulation, presenting an implementation challenge for a high-order massive MIMO system. Our proposed scheme successfully reduces computational complexity by reducing the number of symbol probability points using in iteration part. Numerical simulation results and complexity comparison have shown that the proposed algorithm can show advantages in complexity compared to original MPD algorithm.
