Abstract

After having redressed since 1967 in various teams in Aachen bladder defects by heterologous and homologous transplants as well as desensitized dura with alternating success, we have used in the last few years formalin treated and tanned hog’s bladders as homologous transplants. From the histological point of view, the recent tests revealed also this time, that instead of the defect there was only an irregularly arranged connective tissue. An orderly structure of the muscles being a real regeneration of the bladder was not observed. Nevertheless, a partial replacement of the bladder or a redress of the defect by both heterologous and homologous transplants up to a self-regeneration is given.
