Abstract Fath's photometric measures of Scuti have been analyzed by performing least-squares fits of his observations to sine-term expansions in various periods. The results of the analysis show that the following incommensurable, but related, periods are excited in this star: the fundamental Po = 0.193770 day, the second overtone P2 = 0.095129 day, and the resonance term PR = 0.186872 day. A similar treatment of the radial-velocity observations reported by Paddock and Struve generally confirms the results obtained in the discussion of the light-variation. Maximum light precedes maximum expansion velocity by about 0.07 period for the three terms P0, PR, and P2 individually. The light- and velocity variations are approximately represented by equations (1) and (2) of this .
