Abstract

We report the rediscovery of Siphocampylus viscidus, 120 years after its first collection, including an updated morphological description, illustrations, distribution map, and notes on nomenclature, conservation, ecology, and taxonomic affinities. The species is endemic to Rio de Janeiro state, growing in small populations in forest understories and roadsides. Until now, only a single population of S. viscidus is known, close to the type locality indicated. The species presents morphological affinities with S. humilis, being distinguished mainly by its fistulous stem and its serrated leaf margin with unequal teeth. Details on the type specimens are also provided.
