Abstract
In the recent Forum article (Microbe, June 2012, p. 254–255), Ferric C. Fang and Arturo Casadevall discussed various problems with contemporary science, including an increase in research errors and scientific misconduct, leading to a rise in retracted publications, as well as an erosion of public confidence in science, insufficient funding opportunities, and increased science regulation. The authors believe it is time to reform science because the system has become dysfunctional.
