Redesigning general education program takes collaboration, requires prioritizing

Abstract

Between the winter of 2014 and the fall of 2015, the University of La Verne made a huge shift in general education requirements that affected all staff and students on campus, but few departments more than the Registrar's Office. The university moved from a general education requirement of three courses in three different humanities subject areas (literature, history, philosophy) to two courses in any humanities concentration, meaning that students could take two courses in the same concentration.
