Abstract

The type species of the pseudoscorpion genus Geogarypus Chamberlin, 1930, Geogarypus minor (L. Koch, 1873), is redescribed from the newly designated female lectotype and numerous specimens from southern France, Corsica and Italy. Geogarypus nigrimanus (Simon, 1879) is newly designated as a junior subjective synonym of G. minor, and a new species, G. italicus sp. nov. (type locality Bergeggi, Western Liguria, Italy), is described from specimens from mainland Italy, Sicily and Sardinia. A key to the Mediterraneo-Macaronesian species of the genus is proposed.
