Abstract

Among the tested plant species, the mites Oligonychus thelytokus showed their preference for the adaxial surface (87%). They survived best on jamun (100%), Ichnocarpus (96%), bohemia (83%), and cotton (74%) compared to rose (60%) and Manihot glazivoii (52%) under laboratory conditions. With the absolute absence of males in the colony, our redescription of the mite is based on female characters. The mite possesses more distinct characters of which in dorsal striations between el - f1 though transverse, are irregular and in pregenital area longitudinal. On the genital flap, striations are transverse. On I. frutescens leaf discs, the mite took 9.51 - 22.27 days to develop at different temperatures (20 - 32°C). The mite has high net reproduction rate of 52.63 female offspring/female with a low Doubling time of 8.31 days at the higher rearing temperature of 30°C.
