Abstract

A redescription of Storthyngura elegans Vanhoffen, 1914 from the Southern Ocean and the description of Storthyngura parka sp. nov. from the eastern Pacific off the coast of Peru are presented. The new species is most similar to S. elegans and can be distinguished by short dorsal spines on pereonites 2–4, short coxal lobes of pereopods 3 and 4, long anlerolateral spines of pereonite 4, a rounded caudal margin of the pleotelson, without notch, and some details of the appendages.
