Redescription Du Genre Megaesthesius Rathbun Et Définition Des Chasmocarcininae, Nouvelle Sous-Famille Des Goneplacidae (Decapoda Brachyura)

Abstract

In redescribing the genus Megaesthesius Rathbun, the author gives more attention to such characters as the very long and conspicuous eyestalks and the long mobile spinules of the ambulatory legs than did Miss Rathbun herself (1909, 1910). This genus belongs to the group of genera of the Rhizopinae with characters intermediate between the Goneplacidae and the Pinnotheridae. A new subfamily Chasmocarcininae is established for this group of genera.
